23.4

That's my current Body-Mass-Index. This is really a bad value for a marathon runner, isn't it?! They say a BMI>25 is a over-weight, and starting from 30 it's Adipositas, wow... BUT, I have also read that "sporty" people also have to consider their heavy muscles which might contribute to a pretty high BMI of 25 or so... I'd actually be interested in the BMI of all these professional marathoners...

Back from Spain

Just got back from a business trip to Barcelona which I started on Sunday. Off course, I was not very dilligent in running ;-( At least I was on Monday for 30mins on the treadmill! On Saturday, I will have my "season closure" and running (not competing!) a pretty hilly marathon whose course is nearly completely through the forest. Actualy, it starts down at the lake there, then going up to the hilly forest, and afterwards returning back to the lake. My best running fellow will also be there, it's like "Let's start together and after 35kms everybody can go on its own". This will be great, for sure, I mean I am not trained at all but that's life... Besides, I am really keen on start to train for my next goal. Currently I am thinking about having a competitive marathon in March and most probably I will switch to a new 10-weeks training schedule. I am just making this plan "nice" and will post some details later.

GO OUT AND RUN ;-)

Race Day

But I just watched ;-) Last weekend one of my favourite local races were held, favourite because it's in the neighbourhood what means just 10mins by car. I raced there pretty often in the last years but this year, as you know, I've finished my race running and just for jogging I didn't want to participate. So I just drove there and watched.
The race last Saturday was the first out of three races they are hosting. The Limes-Winterlaufserie is pretty popular in the region. It's starting with a 10k in November, then a 15k in January, and finally a half marathon in February. Besides that these runs can be very good preparation runs for spring they are giving very often a pretty good time guess for your marathon in March or April!

Runners.

Windy

Had a week fully blocked with business work, I hate it. There was not a little break to go for a run! And I wanted to bring me in the shape to be at least a bit prepared for the marathon next weekend... Anyway, today I wasn't busy with my job at all and I headed out for a long run. My goal today was not a specific mileage but first number of my overall time should be a 2 and NOT a 1 ;-)
The weather was actually fine for mid of November, around 5 degrees Celsius, cloudy, and a bit sun... but sooooooo windy! I had to spend some time on the "acres" and there it was unbelievable windy but in the forest it was okay.
Finally, I made it: 2:02hrs

Stats:
Distance: 23k
Time: 2:02

P.S.: Isn't there a song called "Windy", everywhere from the 70ies or so?

Weekend

It's weekend and that means running in my well known forest at home ;-) As I usually run weekdays at work it's nice to have the possibility to run here at the weekend. It was a pretty nice run, I tried out to start slow, in fact I had 17:15 for the first 3k (i.e. 5:45/k), that was really easy and I felt good. Afterwards I increased my pace slightly but w/o much effort. In the end I finished my short 10k run with 52:30 mins (i.e. 5:15/k).

Here are some pictures from today's run:

Tired

Tired?

My "Plan" of May-2004

Before issueing my training plan for first quarter of 2005 I just go through my last training "plan" of this year when I trained for the marathon beginning of May. I've set that time a PR with 2:56. But when I am looking at what I did for it I can't recommend it for others to copy ;-) This was really a pretty lousy preparation!

I have logged 10 training weeks before marathon race day:

Total: 612k (excl. marathon race day)
Min. week: 50k
Max. week: 75k
Longest runs: 3*21k, 1*26k, 2*28k
Tempo runs (Race pace or faster): 77k (12%)

If I compare that with my new plan (which is only in my mind yet) I will need very good mental health to succeed the training period ;-)

Snow

Since long time ago I ran today in the morning with a couple of people as a colleague has organized to run each Tuesday at work just before work ;-) It was pretty slow but time passes so fast if you can just jog after some other people and you don't have to think about any path or direction you have to go. The weather at 7:30 AM was really beautiful, not that dark anymore, a bit cold but nice sun set and no rain and nearly no wind. Nice, will join again next week ;-)
Additionally what I recognized today that I might start to fast sometimes for the training. My usual training pace is around 5:10min/km and sometimes I just have heavy legs after some meters. Today the pace was around 6:00min/km and I jogged with the groupe for around 45mins after they headed back I just added 30mins with a pace of 5:00min/km or faster and I felt really good, something like "smooth sailing", haha. I will try out next time.
Okay, coming back to the heading ;-) First snow for this season, just when I left work ;-( Not to good for driving home, especially when it's first snow, everybody is driving like... (me, too, I think, haha)... Tomorrow's run will be more wet I assume, I don't think that the snow will remain...
