Running, running , running

After the marathon I took a rest for nearly one week, wow, that's different to some time ago when I had to go for a run after at least one or two days of rest. But on Sunday morning I felt like I had to achieve something ;-) So, as I worked in the garden the whole Friday, did nothing on Saturday (except playing and struggling with the kids) and can't think about anything else than running where I am not to bad I drove to a nearby village (25min by car) where they organized their yearly race. Actually it's a pretty small one with less than 160 runners participating in total in the 10k and half marathon. As I am marathoner (haha) I had to join the half marathon ;-) It's a very typical one for our rural area here, i.e. it starts in the "valley", goes up some meters, then it's pretty "wavy" (i.e. not really hilly but...) and the last 3k it goes down, down, down... Furthermore, it's most of the time in the forest but also on country lanes. At the beginning it was perfect weather, afterwards it got hotter but still acceptable. The first 6 or 7k I ran with a pack of four other runners, when the course went up I was last, when it went down I was first ;-) I knew one of the guys and I knew he is usually a bit slower than I am so after a while I started to run a bit faster than them and finally I was away, jippie... Effect of this running away was that I ran the whole remaining 15k alone w/o seeing anybody else of the runners because the ones who where in front of me ran to fast for me and were pretty far away (actually it was just a minute when I finished but)! It was really a nice thing to participate in that one, and pretty spontaneously...

Stats:
Distance: 21,1k
Time: 1:24:37
Ranking: 5/110 (overall)
